As a certified educational provider, the Training Institute courses are accepted towards meeting the training clock hours required by the New York State Office of Alcoholism & Substance Abuse Services (OASAS) for credentialing.
Given the complexity of substance abuse, exacerbated by violence, HIV, and other public health concerns New York State created the Credentialed Alcoholism & Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) designation in order to set high standards for clinical practice. The CASAC eligibility standards were established to meet those set by the International Certification & Reciprocity Consortium/Alcohol & Other Drug Abuse, Inc. (ICRC/AODA). This certification is recognized in 39 states, all branches of the military, the Indian Health Services, Canada, Sweden and Germany.
If you are interested in getting your CASAC contact OASAS for the provider near you who can offer a full curriculum including internship and testing.
